If you've had the good fortune to visit Block Island then you know why it has been described as the "Bermuda of the North". Its beautiful scenery and quaint shops make the Island a perfect day trip destination. Leashed dogs are allowed year-round on the beaches (owners are expected to clean up after their dogs) and at some of the outdoor eating establishments. If you wish to stay longer, contact the Chamber of Commerce for a list of pet-friendly inns. Please note that many businesses close during the winter season.

Several companies run ferry service to the Island and all allow leashed dogs.  The ferry from Point Judith, RI to Block Island operates daily throughout the year. Ferries from Newport, RI, New London, CT and Montauk, NY only operate during the summer. Reservations are required if you wish to bring your vehicle. Taxi service, bicycle, and moped rentals are available on the Island.
